Benefits of Donating Blood

Now, UAE are very much interested in donating Blood, we have an increasing ratio of blood donors around the UAE. There are many volunteers who donate blood frequently. Many years before people are not ready to step front for this service because there is no proper education at the school level. Many people don’t know the benefits of blood donation. In many developed countries holds huge donors who donate blood frequently.

Reduce the risk of heart diseases and even cancer
Normally, the body contains some amount of iron which is increased means then it will accelerate the oxidation process of cholesterol which automatically leads to heart diseases and even cancer. Avoid this risk by the process of donating blood and stop the increasing level of iron in the body.

Increase the production of new Red Blood Cells
After donating blood, the donor body contains fewer Blood Cells. To refill, new cells are produced by marrow and blood gets refreshed.

Burning Calories 
One pint of blood will burn approximately 650 calories from the body. By regular blood donating process will helps to stay fit.

Basic Blood Analysis
Upon all the benefits of donating blood, the donors are requested to take a basic blood test before involving in the donating process. This blood tests for syphilis, HIV, hepatitis B, C, and other diseases.



Basic Requirements for Blood Donation

Spread a safe and happy environment to both donor and recipient. The donors should follow the criteria which are given below. If you are not following the conditions means which produce a critical situation. These are not only providing the safety but also bring a healthy environment.

DO donate blood, if donors have these qualities
  1. Blood donors are between the age groups of 18-60 years.
  2. Donor weight is at least 45 kilograms.
  3. Hemoglobin is 12.5 mg% minimum
  4. You can donate blood after 70 days from your last blood donation.
DO NOT donate blood, if donors have any of the following conditions
  1. Pregnant women are not allowed for donating blood.
  2. If you have had any surgery in recent months.
  3. If you affected by HIV.
  4. If the donor body contains more alcohol.
  5. If donor taking any treatment with antibiotics.
  6. Vaccination in the last 24 hours.
  7. High blood pressure and Diabetes on medication.
  8. Severe cold and fever in the past 1 week.
  9. You cannot donate your blood if you are a hepatitis B, C patient.

Increasing Young Blood Donors

Blood donating is one of the social services which will save some one’s life. But many people still don’t know the benefits of this service. People are not aware of this donating blood because they are very scared and not ready to give. Today, many young people who are doing a great work and encouraging their friends and families to donate. 

In many colleges, IT companies, and other international companiesare handling this service in a perfect way which means they will allocate a separate day for this service and encourage their , students and employees to do this service. The employee and the students are ready to perform with full involvement and some companies are doing this service at yearly once. 

Miss. Lisa who is one of my classmates. She afraid of needles and didn't understand the intent and importance of donating blood. In 2011, we had a blood donation camp and many of our friends are involved in volunteer activities and they gave a speech regarding the importance of donating blood. My friend Lisa got inspired and she gave the blood at first time and she was continuing this service still now. From this we can understand one thing, many people not aware of this service. Regular campaign and programs helps to gather manydonors around the world.

Blood- Do you know about the blood components?

Blood is a specialized fluid which circulating inside the body. The normal person has about 5 liters of blood in his body. The blood is divided into four major components. They are  plasma, red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.

The functions of the blood are like transporting oxygen and nutrients to the lungs and tissues, forming blood clots , consists of numerous cell and protein which make the blood thicker, carry the waste products to the kidneys and liver and controlling the body temperature

Plasma- It holds pale yellow color of water, salt and protein. The blood gives half of its place to this Plasma. The primary function of the plasma is to transport blood cells throughout your body carrying nutrients, waste products, antibodies, clotting proteins, chemical messengers

Red Blood Cells (RBC) - this RBC occupied 40-45%in the blood. It contains hemoglobin pigment which helps to carry the oxygen from one place to another.

White Blood Cells (WBC) - It is mainly works against the infection. Blood contains 55 to 70 percent of the total white blood cell count.

Platelets- Platelets are not exactly like other cells which is small in size and that helps the blood to clot.
