Platelet is an important for your body which is produced in bone- marrow. The function of platelets is to form a clot in your blood, and avoid bleeding. Normal platelet count starts from 150,000 to 450,000 units per cubic millimetre of blood. Platelets are usually small in size, with irregular shape. The life span of the platelets is only 5 to 9 days. If the count of the platelets is low means then, it will produce an excessive bleeding. If the count is high also leads to danger, because it will produce a problem like stroke, myocardial infarction, pulmonary embolism.
Symptoms of low platelet count:
Platelets help to block the bleeding which is occurring from the wound. Clot normally formed when the blood is exposed to air. The platelets use the air and stop the bleeding. The presence of calcium and vitamin K in the blood helps in the formation of clots.
Symptoms of low platelet count:
- Easy bruising
- Red dots on your skin
- Red or pink colored urine
- Red or brown colored sputum or vomit
- Dizziness, constant headache- Bleeding in head
- Bleed from your teeth gums.
